I’m In-n-Out

It’s been a hot ass minute. But a lot has gone down in my life since my last post. Basically, I spent a week driving across the country to live in California with my boyfriend’s family for an unknown amount of time. We stayed in buses and yurts, ate sopapillas, fresh tortillas and tamales, climbed a raven’s cave and saw an Arizona full moon. And then for the first time, I touched the west coast water and discovered my love for in-n-out. California truly is beautiful, but holy fuck is it expensive. I am so thankful for Gio’s parents because I am able to live here rent free and never worry about paying for groceries. An amazing opportunity to explore and cook some good ass eats.

My goal for this blog post is always ~adapting~. I started it to have a project to keep me motivated in Spain. My love of food was a catalyst. I realized I have an intense love for journalism. But I also am learning how to multitask my school, work, creative endeavors, and random shit life keeps throwing at me. So there hasn’t been cooking everyday and cool food discoveries, but I have finished my Spain classes, been killing my summer classes, have been traveling, having a great amount of sex, learned to embroider, make a stamps, make an apple pie crumble, and my best one yet: Cook a meal using THC. I’ve been creating and documenting, but have been “too busy” to write about it. SO I decided today after eating leftovers of my thc infused mashed potatoes to call myself out on my bullshit.

So here I am.

Writing.

My upcoming posts are going to continue being stories of my life and the food that comes with it! It has been so experimental and basically random stuff my mind craves and I wont stop thinking about it until I make it. I also want to educate myself during this project. Thus, I am going to make mini-series exploring one specific food, it’s origin, it’s importance, and it’s story in my life. The Tamal.

This post though, I am going to tell you all about the beautiful, magical, make-your-pants-wet↘

Known for their double cheeseburger, simple cut fries, and milk-shakes, an average east-coaster wouldn’t think much. I was raised eating Cook Out and it was a staple of my college career. If I wanted, I could change my order a million times and there would still be items on the menu I haven't tried yet. So I was pretty surprised In-n-Out had such limited selections. The menu has:

Cheeseburgers, Hamburgers, Fries, and choice of chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, or neapolitan milkshakes. But the real fun comes from their “not so secret” menu:

Double meat up to 4x’s, grilled cheese, protein style (lettuce wrap), and the panty-dropping animal style (with lettuce, tomato, a mustard cooked beef patty; add pickle, extra spread, with grilled onions).

My boyfriend prefers a simple order of a double cheesburger ketchup only, fries, and a neopolitan. But I’m not a vanilla-ass hoe, so for my first experience, I ordered the double cheeseburger animal style, with fries and a neopolitan. Let me tell you, it surpasses the Cook Out burger. I was mind-blown.

So if you’re ever wondering what to order from In-n-Out, try my order and I promise you will be so satisfied.

‘Til next time. Im out.
